Hello - my name is Starry Ogle, a Retired Great Grandmother who has lived in SC all my life & in the Lugoff Area for over 20 years & some of my Hobbies include Handmade Memory Quilts, Stuffies, Anti Aging Body Butter & Face Cream. But this Post is about the Handmade Memory Quilts for Newborns - Pre-Teens!

I am Not a professional nor do I have a Business but I thought that there may be other people that would like what I usually just create for family as gifts & have sold some on requests. When I saw this site, I thought that I would offer my services on here to see if there is anyone that would be interested in buying a Memory Quilt for their child, family member or as gift for someone else's child.

Quilts are 2 Layers Only, not 3, there is No Batting in the Middle. The Top is pieced together, has several different embroidery designs across top, both sides & bottom. Designs are based on your preferences or Theme you pick. Name is Embroidered across the Top & a 'Birth Certificate' Design is embroidered at Bottom with Full Name, Date & Time of Birth, Weight & Length & Day of Week Born - Certificate design is based on Theme you have chosen. Fabric Colors are also based on your preferences, usually 3 or 4 different colors.

The Bottom is made with Fleece & my experience has been that Babies, Children, Teenagers & Adults absolutely love the feel of it - tiny babies & toddlers will run their hands back & forth over fabric, they love it's softness.

Quilts are Light Weight & finished size for babies & toddlers is approx 50+"W X 64+" L & can be used for many years until they outgrow length or they get tired of, (I made for my 4 Grandsons & 1 Granddaughter when they were Pre Teens & they still use any time they go on vacations whether it's Camping or staying in hotels! The 2 oldest just turned 28 & youngest is 22 & those with spouses bought them a quilt for Christmas Gift when they knew that person was the one!

Quilts are also great for Wrapping Babies/Toddlers in during winter to go from houses to cars, etc.

Hopefully, I can attatch a few Photos to my post to give you an idea of what they look like! Costs vary & is based on Fabric Costs & a little extra for my work. Turn-around Time is also based on when I can get Fabrics delivered, anywhere from 1 - 2 weeks or if I already have what you want on hand! These Memory Quilts are each 1 of a kind - I do not have Blank Quilts that I Embroider on Only. You can be as Involved with the Overall Design as you choose to be - some just say they want a Mermaid Theme with certain colors & that's it - some get involved to the point of deciding where each embroider design is placed! I enjoy working with anyone who wants to be able to say that they Actually Designed Overall Look & that I just brought your ideas/visions together! 🙂 I've done both ways so I have no issues with working towards an end product as you envision it! Would be a little more, Costwise because usually takes almost twice as long & goid bit more of work, lol. But it wont be a Lot more.

3 completed (mother's color choices on all) & one I'm currently working on with the mother of newborn who wanted Highland Cows as Theme & I sent pics of the Panel for Center of Quilt & the Patterned Fabric I purchased along with an assortment of color fabrics to choose 3 or 4. Later, I will lay out in order I will piece together so she can see if the Colors she chose look the way she hoped (if not, we'll just change) before I start Washing, Drying, Ironing, Measuring, Cutting & Sewing together. I Overlock Stitch on All Raw Edges so that Material Never Unravels & makes balls of thread on the inside & quilt lasts & lasts, while still looking New, through many years of Washing/ Drying! After Quilt Top is made, I then add all Embroidery Designs before Bingdng Top to Bottom Fleece Fabric & Voila - your Personalized Memory Quilt is ready!
